If you own an old or long-vacant property, the new "Exoikonomo 2026"
could help you renovate your home with a grant covering up to 95% of the renovation costs, with funding of up to €36,000 per property. The initiative aims to bring older homes back into use by supporting both renovation and energy-efficiency upgrades
What Does the Program Cover?
The grant supports a wide range of renovation and energy improvement works, including:
Kitchen and bathroom renovations.
Electrical and plumbing upgrades.
Flooring replacement and interior repairs
Installation of new energy-efficient windows and doors
Thermal insulation
Solar water heaters or heat pumps
Other improvements that increase the home's energy efficiency
These upgrades can significantly reduce energy consumption while improving the comfort and value of your property
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the program, applicants must meet specific income and property requirements
The main income limits are:
Single applicants: Annual income up to €25,000
Married couples (without children): Household income up to €35,000
Additional allowance: €5,000 for each dependent child
In addition, the property must:
Be at least 20 years old
Have remained vacant for more than three years
Why Should You Apply?
Renovating an older property offers much more than a modern appearance. It can increase your home's market value, lower energy bills, improve everyday comfort, and make the property suitable for either long-term rental or personal use.
If you meet the eligibility requirements, this program is an excellent opportunity to complete essential renovation work while significantly reducing your out-of-pocket expenses
Tip: Before applying, make sure you review all eligibility requirements, required documents, and application deadlines so you can prepare your submission in advance
